So it's been my first week home from school...well I guess a little bit longer than that since I got home a week ago Tuesday and today is Thursday. I just finished my third year at the University of New Hampshire, and I'm amazed to say that in the fall I will be a senior. Time flies SO fast now-a-days, it really amazes me. I remember my parents and I moving all of my stuff from home into my first dorm room in Williamson Hall, freshman year. That seems like yesterday. Anywho! I'm back home for the summer and I'm excited to say that I'm already back to work. Usually when I come home for the summer I give myself at least a couple weeks to get bored of lying around the house doing nothing before I start working, but not this year! I'm in the mood to make money this summer, especially for the trip to Europe I will be taking in less than a month!
For the past two summers (and winter breaks), I've worked at Kane Partners Insurance Consulting Company in Mamaroneck, NY. My dad got me the job because he used to work there himself and they needed someone to help organize their filing system. I've been there ever since! My bosses Rob and Fred are really nice guys and they treat me well there. I've also made great friends with my co-workers Claudine and Zoe. There hasn't been much excitement this past week at work other than the usual dictation of census and organizing the file room...but there's always fun around the office with good conversation and company.
As I mentioned before I will be taking my first trip to Europe in less than a month! I am a singer in the University of New Hampshire and while majoring in Music Education with an emphasis in vocal technique, I am also a member of the UNH Concert Choir and Chamber Singers, which will be competing in a competition in the Czech Republic at the end of June. On June 20th I will be flying out of Boston, heading to Iceland, where I will catch a connecting flight to London and then finally my destination flight from London to Prague. I will be flying with my good friend, Lindsay, for whom this will be a first time visit to Europe as well. The competition will begin on the 21st where each group (Concert Choir and Chamber Singers) will be competing in 2 sections. I'm a little bit stressed about the competition because our choral director, Bill, is expecting us to have memorized all of our music. I'm not 100% sure that our groups will be capable of memorizing our entire program, even with Bill's countless emails and scheduling for memorizing the pieces. Hopefully during the dress rehearsal if things are not going smoothly Bill will let us resort to using our music. Either way, I will have the time of my life throughout this trip! With 23 days in counting you will be sure to hear of my preparations and excitements for my adventure!
Talk to you soon!
